BABY wants to be up!

At this age all babies want is to be up! They want to sit up and for you to hold them standing up. They are seeing the world from a whole different place now and its exciting!

What to expect between seven and nine months

  • Babies will learn to roll over from tummy to back and back to tummy. This is their first experience of independent movement!

  • Baby will now be able to sit up, first by propping with their arms and then they will learn to sit up straight and be able to play with toys in their hands.

  • Transitions are important - babies will figure out how to get from lying to sitting and from sitting to hands and knees in preparation for crawling.

  • During this time some babies will learn to crawl, others will come up to all 4's rocking first before they crawl.

TAKEAWAY

  • Practice side sitting to encourage your baby to learn how to transition in and out of sitting. This will also prepare them for transitioning onto hands and knees for crawling.

  • Babies practice their new skills thousands of time before they become proficient at them. They may even wake up during the night to practice! It is our job to set up the environment to allow for lots and lots and lots of practice.

  • The floor is still the best place for baby to perfect their new skills. Make sure your baby has plenty of time playing on the floor everyday.

If you have concerns about your babies development please get in touch. When it comes to development its always better to be proactive than to wait and see...you might regret waiting but you won't regret getting help for you baby if its needed.
